Every Californian deserves safe housing, affordable health care, and high-quality caregiving as they get older.
Because aging should be celebrated.
Five years after adopting a Master Plan for Aging, California has made important progress but our systems of care aren’t keeping up with the millions of adults who want to age in their homes surrounded by the people and places that matter to them.
Too many older adults and people with disabilities can’t access or afford the care they need. And too many families are trying to fill the gaps, with workers struggling to balance earning a living with caregiving.
This crisis is becoming more urgent: By 2030, nearly 10 million Californians will be 60 or older, roughly 25% of the state’s population.
